Perfect Opposites/Hydraulic press workshop

The hydraulic press is an awesome tool with so many possibilities. In this workshop we will cover the basics of designing and making matrix dies, a variety of texture techniques as well as discussing some unconventional ways to create pieces using the press. The project will be to create two pieces (rings, pendants, brooch, etc) that are very different while using the same die. We will discuss putting our tools to the best uses as well as finding cool tools in unexpected places. Basic soldering skills are required.

Let’s learn to use our files in a creative way. We will create a beautiful set of stack rings using our jeweler’s files as texture tools. Techniques could also be applied in making bangle bracelets. Basic soldering skills would be helpful but are not required.

Using one piece of sterling silver and combining forging and sawing techniques we will design and create a beautiful and ornamental cuff bracelet. With a limited set of tools students will learn to apply traditional metalsmithing techniques to a unique and timeless piece.

Fusing with Copper
Let’s take fusing to the next level! We will combine sterling silver and copper to create beautiful textures with depth and color variance. Students will create a variety of sample sheets that can be used in a multitude of jewelry projects. Beginning to advanced level students will enjoy this workshop.
